Porsche announces the forthcoming entry on the market of the new sports versions that further enrich the “992” lineup: 911 Carrera GTS (proposed in Coupé and Cabriolet versions); 911 Carrera 4 GTS (Coupé and Cabriolet); 911 Targa 4 GTS.
The exterior setting of the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS 2022 presents a series of new details in black or dark color (the same finish concerns the characteristic rollbar of the Targa version and the related model identification) and in satin black: spoiler, rims, air intakes on the bonnet, “GTS” lettering on the doors and in the rear area of the vehicle. Other gloss black finishes are available as an optional exterior package. Noteworthy are the PDLS Plus-Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus technology front light clusters. Also on request, there is also the lightweight design package, developed by the technicians of the Cavallina to further refine the driving dynamics, and which makes its debut aboard the 911 GTS range. The new kit (with lightened bucket seats (shell in CFRP-carbon fiber reinforced plastic), side windows and rear window in thinner crystal and lighter battery, elimination of the bench and rear backrests, new aerodynamic accents and the directional rear axle) allows the new generation GTS further precision in the response and makes it gain about 25 kg in overall weight.
The markedly sporty connotation is also felt in the passenger compartment, from a functional point of view as well as in relation to the visual effect. The seven-speed manual gearbox (optional) has been shortened by 10 mm, to allow even faster gear changes with a simple flick of the wrist; in addition to the possibility of lightening the interior, the finishes feature the GT Sport steering wheel, the mandatory Sport Chrono package with “Mode” selector, infotainment with Porsche Track Precision App and the tire temperature indicator. The semi-anatomical plus seats are also standard with four levels of adjustment to find ideal lateral support and high comfort. The upholstery is in Race-Tex microfiber material for the central parts of the seats, the steering wheel rim, the door handles and armrests, the glove compartment closing panel and the gear lever. In addition, with the GTS package, the seams, the seat belts and the “GTS” lettering embroidered on the headrests and also present in the tachometer and clock dials are in contrasting carmine red or pastel, while the accents on the dashboard and door panels are in carbon fiber with matt effect.
Porsche 911 GTS 2022 is equipped with the new generation of the PCM-Porsche Communication Management multimedia module (compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standards), which offers a series of additional controls and simplified operation: specifically, Porsche technicians have proceeded to an enlargement of the touch areas in the Media menu, to a reorganization of the panels on the home screen as well as to the insertion of the voice control system that recognizes the natural voice and is also activated with the phrase “Hey Porsche”.
Under the hood, the propulsion is entrusted to the turbocharged 3-liter boxer 6-cylinder, which develops a maximum power of 480 hp (i.e., in terms of comparison, 30 hp more than the current 911 Carrera S and the previous Porsche 911 GTS) and 570 Nm of maximum torque, which is 20 Nm more than the previous generation. The technical difference refers to the type of transmission adopted: eight-speed double-clutch PDK gearbox (or, alternatively, seven-speed manual with even shorter travel) and rear-wheel drive; and (911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé) all-wheel drive and eight-speed Porsche dual clutch PDK gearbox. In this declination, the 100 km / h with a standing start are reached in 3″3 (three tenths less if compared with the old series).
In terms of set-up, the new Carrera GTS 2022 lineup adopts the suspension system that already equips the ultra-performing 580 HP 911 Turbo, and here the subject of a re-engineering in order to meet the different performance requirements: standard always the PASM-Porsche Active Suspension Management system, which in the Coupé and Cabriolet versions acts together with a 10 mm lowering of the chassis compared to the standard lineup of the new gen Porsche 911. The 911 Targa 4 GTS variant, on the other hand, uses the same chassis (always equipped with the PASM system) as the 911 Targa 4S.
The philosophy that makes the 911 GTS little brother of the 911 Turbo is also evident in the choice of the braking system, which is the same, and in the adoption of a set of rims with central single nut, 20″ for the front and 21″ for the rear. For its part, the performance allure is also highlighted in the “sound”, thanks to the (standard) assembly of a specifically designed sports exhaust system and the elimination of some insulating elements in the passenger compartment.
With regard to the commercial debut, the sales prices were announced, which start at € 140,981.
